Western Visayas Minimum Wage Increase Approved for 2024

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) VI has approved a significant wage increase for private sector workers in the Western Visayas Region. This decision, formalized through Wage Order No. RBVI-28 on October 22, 2024, introduces a daily wage increase ranging from ₱33 to ₱40. The new daily minimum wage rates will now be between ₱485 and ₱513 for the non-agriculture sector and ₱480 for the agriculture sector.


New Minimum Wage Rates:


Non-Agriculture/Industrial/Commercial:

  • Employing more than ten (10) workers:

    • Previous Wage: ₱480.00

    • Increase: ₱33.00

    • New Wage: ₱513.00

  • Employing ten (10) workers or less:

    • Previous Wage: ₱450.00

    • Increase: ₱35.00

    • New Wage: ₱485.00

Agriculture:

  • Previous Wage: ₱440.00

    • Increase: ₱40.00

    • New Wage: ₱480.00


Additionally, RTWPB VI has approved a ₱1,000 monthly increase for domestic workers (kasambahays), raising their monthly minimum wage to ₱6,000 under Wage Order No. RB VI-DW-05.


New Monthly Minimum Wage for Domestic Workers:

  • Previous Wage: ₱5,000.00

    • Increase: ₱1,000.00

    • New Wage: ₱6,000.00


These wage adjustments were submitted to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) for review and affirmation on October 28, 2024. The new rates will be effective starting November 1, 2024, and will take effect on November 17, 2024, a day after their anniversary.


The wage increase is expected to benefit approximately 193,032 minimum wage earners and about 300,252 full-time wage and salary workers. This adjustment also aims to address wage distortions and provide a fairer wage structure for workers in the region.

The last wage orders for workers in private establishments and domestic workers in the region were both issued on October 16, 2023, and became effective on November 2023.
