New Wage Orders Announced for CAR and MIMAROPA

The National Wages and Productivity Com
mission (NWPC) has affirmed new wage orders for private sector and domestic workers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and MIMAROPA Region. These wage increases, issued by the respective Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs), are set to support wage growth and economic development in these regions.


Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)


The RTWPB CAR issued Wage Order No. CAR-23 on November 13, 2024, which grants a ₱40 daily minimum wage increase across all provinces in the region. This adjustment raises the daily minimum wage from ₱430 to ₱470, effective upon publication.


  • Minimum Wage Rate under Wage Order No. CAR-22: ₱430.00

  • Amount of Increase: ₱40.00

  • New Minimum Wage Rate: ₱470.00


Additionally, Wage Order No. CAR-DW-06 grants a ₱1,100 monthly increase for kasambahays (domestic workers) in the region, raising the sector's monthly minimum wage from ₱4,900 to ₱6,000.


  • Monthly Minimum Wage under WO No. CAR-DW-05: ₱4,900.00

  • Amount of Increase: ₱1,100.00

  • New Minimum Wage Rate: ₱6,000.00


These wage orders will be published on December 8, 2024, and will take effect 15 days from publication, or on December 24, 2024.


MIMAROPA Region


The RTWPB MIMAROPA issued Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-12 on November 27, 2024, increasing the daily minimum wage for private sector workers in the region by ₱35. The minimum wage for workers in establishments with 10 or more workers will increase from ₱395 to ₱430, while those in establishments with fewer than 10 workers will see an increase from ₱369 to ₱404.


  • Minimum Wage under Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-11: ₱395.00 (for establishments with 10 workers and above) / ₱369.00 (for establishments with less than 10 workers)

  • Amount of Increase: ₱35.00

  • New Minimum Wage Rates (Upon Effectivity): ₱430.00 (for establishments with 10 workers and above) / ₱404.00 (for establishments with less than 10 workers)


Furthermore, Wage Order RB-MIMAROPA-DW-05 grants a ₱1,000 monthly increase for domestic workers, raising the sector's monthly minimum wage to ₱6,500.


  • Monthly Minimum Wage under Wage Order RB-MIMAROPA-DW-04: ₱5,500.00

  • Amount of Monthly Increase: ₱1,000.00

  • New Monthly Minimum Wage Rate: ₱6,500.00


These wage orders will be published on December 7, 2024, and will take effect 15 days from publication, or on December 23, 2024.


In affirming the wage orders, the NWPC found that both regions complied with the criteria for determining wage increases under Republic Act Nos. 6727 and 10361. The wage orders are expected to benefit a total of 74,961 minimum wage earners in these regions, with additional benefits for kasambahays and other workers.


The Commission has instructed RTWPBs CAR and MIMAROPA to strengthen information campaigns to ensure compliance and to assist enterprises in correcting possible wage distortions. The RTWPBs are also encouraged to implement productivity improvement programs and savings schemes.
