Comprehensive Guide to the New SSS Contribution Schedule Effective January 2025
The Social Security System (SSS) of the Philippines has recently issued Circular No. 2024-U06, which details the new schedule of contributions effective January 2025. This update is vital for all business employers (ERs) and employees (EEs) as it outlines significant changes in contribution rates and policies.
Purpose of the Update:
The new schedule of contributions is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11199, also known as the Social Security Act of 2018. The key changes effective from 2025 include:
An increase in the contribution rate to 15%.
A minimum Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) of ₱5,000.00.
A maximum MSC of ₱35,000.00.
These changes aim to enhance the benefits and security provided to members of the SSS.
Policies and Contribution Schedule:
The updated contribution schedule covers three main programs:
Regular Social Security (SS) Program
Employees' Compensation (EC) Program
Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Program
The detailed table in the circular specifies the contributions for various salary ranges, ensuring clarity for both employers and employees. For instance, for a monthly salary credit of ₱5,000.00, the total contribution is ₱750.00, with ₱500.00 from the employer and ₱250.00 from the employee.

Computation of Benefits:
The benefits under the Regular SS and EC Programs are computed based on the member's MSC, ranging from a minimum of ₱5,000.00 to a maximum of ₱20,000.00. Contributions exceeding ₱20,000.00 up to ₱35,000.00 will be credited to the member's individual account under the MPF Program. This ensures that the total accumulated account value, including net investment income, is available for retirement, permanent disability, and death benefits.
Repealing Clause:
The new circular repeals Circular No. 2022-033, which detailed the previous schedule of contributions effective January 2023.
Effectivity Clause:
The new schedule will take effect starting January 2025, following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation and the registration and filing of three copies with the Office of the National Administrative Register.
