PhilHealth took a significant step in the battle against tuberculosis (TB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) by participating in the 4th National Health Sector Meeting organized by the Department of Health (DOH) from October 28 to 30 in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte. The meeting focused on multi-sectoral efforts to improve health care delivery and financing, with a particular emphasis on combating TB and HIV.

Enhanced Konsulta Package for Early Detection and Management

PhilHealth's Konsulta Package, which includes coverage for essential laboratory tests such as chest x-rays, was a highlight of the event. This package is crucial for the early detection of TB and effective management of respiratory illnesses. Members and their beneficiaries can register with any Konsulta Package Provider (KPP) of their choice, availing services and annual benefits amounting to ₱1,700 per beneficiary.

Outpatient TB-DOTS Benefit Package

In addition to the Konsulta Package, PhilHealth offers an outpatient Tuberculosis - Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (TB-DOTS) benefit package worth ₱5,200. This package is available at any PhilHealth-accredited TB-DOTS center, ensuring accessible and effective TB treatment for members.

OHAT Package for HIV/AIDS Patients

PhilHealth also promoted its Outpatient HIV/AIDS Treatment (OHAT) package, which covers outpatient consultations, laboratory tests, and anti-retroviral therapy (ART) for HIV/AIDS patients. The annual package of ₱39,000 provides significant financial relief and improved health outcomes for those affected by HIV/AIDS.

Commitment to Reducing Financial Burdens

These benefit packages aim to ease the financial burdens associated with TB and HIV treatment, ensuring patients receive necessary care without worrying about health care costs. PhilHealth's commitment to supporting health care providers and patients through definitive financing was evident in the strategies discussed during the meeting. These efforts are expected to significantly contribute to the fight against TB and HIV/AIDS, promoting healthier communities.
