Marcos Announces Free LRT and MRT Rides for Christmas

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has announced an exciting Christmas gift for commuters of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) systems. Starting December 20, 2024, passengers can enjoy free rides on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3. This initiative aims to ease travel expenses during the holiday season and is expected to benefit around 1.1 million passengers who have used these train lines this year.

In a statement posted on his official social media pages, President Marcos expressed his joy in offering this gift to the public. He said,

Ikinagagalak kong ipabatid sa ating mga mananakay na libre ang sakay sa LRT-1, LRT-2, at MRT-3 bukas, Disyembre 20, 2024.

This gesture is a simple way to alleviate the financial burden on Filipinos preparing for Christmas.

President Marcos hopes that this initiative will bring joy and relief to everyone, reflecting the government's care and concern during the festive season. The free rides will be available from the start of operations until the closing of revenue lines on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.
