SSS Calamity Aid for Cyclone-Affected Members

The Social Security System (SSS) of the Philippines has issued Circular No. 2024-C05, detailing the Calamity Assistance Package for SSS members and pensioners affected by Tropical Cyclones Kristine, Marce, Nika, Ofel, and Pepito. This initiative aims to provide financial relief to those residing in areas declared under a state of calamity by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).


Purpose


The circular, pursuant to Social Security Commission (SSC) Resolution Nos. 526-s.2024 and 567-s.2024, outlines the provision of assistance during calamities. It is designed to support SSS members and pensioners in rebuilding their lives after the devastating impact of these tropical cyclones.


Scope


This assistance package covers all SSS members and pensioners residing in the affected areas as declared by the NDRRMC.


Definition of Terms:

  • Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP): A short-term member loan program granted to eligible members affected by calamity.

  • NDRRMC: National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

  • Residence: The home address indicated in the Social Security member record.

  • Tropical Cyclone (TC): A warm-core low-pressure system, including hurricanes and typhoons.


Policies: Type of Assistance:

  1. CLAP: Available for members whose residence is in the areas declared under a state of calamity by the NDRRMC.

  2. Three-Month Advance Pension: For Social Security (SS) and Employees' Compensation (EC) pensioners, as per Employees' Compensation Commission Board Resolution No. 14-07-21 dated 28 July 2014.

Effectivity Clause


This circular takes effect immediately following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation and the registration and filing of three copies of the published circular with the Office of the National Administrative Register.
