SSS Enhances Calamity Loan Program with Lower Interest and Faster Processing

The Social Security System (SSS) has recently launched its enhanced Calamity Loan Program (CLP), providing crucial financial assistance to members affected by natural disasters. With a budget of P20 billion earmarked for 2025, the program aims to offer swift relief with more favorable terms.

This initiative is welcome news for Filipinos residing or employed in areas declared under a State of Calamity. The SSS has already released P3.4 billion to over 186,000 members through this updated program.

What are the Key Features of the Enhanced CLP?

The revised CLP is designed to be more responsive to the needs of members during difficult times. Key improvements include:

  • Lower Interest Rate: The annual interest rate has been significantly reduced from 10% to just 7%.

  • Loan Amount: Eligible members can borrow up to P20,000.

  • Faster Processing: Loan applications are now processed within seven working days.

  • Flexible Terms: The loan is payable over a two-year period.

  • Early Renewal: Members can renew their loan just six months after its approval.

  • Convenient Disbursement: Loan proceeds are released through UMID ATM cards or PESONet-participating bank accounts for secure and efficient access.
