📚 Understanding the Pag-IBIG Fund Premium Adjustments

Effective 2024, the Pag-IBIG Fund implemented updates to monthly contribution parameters. The most significant shift is the increase of the Maximum Fund Salary (MFS) ceiling from ₱5,000 to ₱10,000. This adjustment increases the monthly contribution cap to optimize retirement assets for all members.

Key Contribution Rules:

  • Premium Rate: Fixed at 2.00% of the Monthly Fund Salary for both employee and employer.
  • MFS Ceiling Increase: Raised to ₱10,000 (from ₱5,000).
  • Mandatory Cap: Employee deduction capped at ₱200.00, matched by employer counterpart of ₱200.00, for a total of ₱400.00 combined monthly.
  • Voluntary Savings Model: Employees can opt to increase their share beyond the ₱200.00 minimum cap. However, employers are only required to match up to the statutory cap of ₱200.00.

Contribution Scenarios:

📉 Scenario 1: Below Ceiling (MBS: ₱8,000)

Since the salary falls below the ₱10,000 ceiling, the standard 2% rate is computed against the actual basic salary.

Formula: ₱8,000 × 2% Total Premium: ₱320.00 Employee: ₱160 | Employer: ₱160

⚖️ Scenario 2: Capped (MBS: ₱25,000)

Because the salary exceeds the ₱10,000 ceiling, contributions cap exactly at the maximum statutory limits.

🌟 Scenario 3: Voluntary (MBS: ₱25,000 + P1,000 Vol)

Employee decides to save ₱1,000. The employer is only mandated to provide the counterpart up to the ₱200 cap.
