Introduction In response to the devastating impacts of the Southwest Monsoon, Tropical Cyclone Butchoy, and Tropical Cyclone Carina, the Social Security System (SSS) has introduced a three-month advance pension program for SS and EC pensioners. This initiative aims to provide immediate financial relief to pensioners residing in the affected areas as declared by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Scope of the Program The program is designed for existing SS retiree, disability, and survivor pensioners, as well as EC disability and survivor pensioners whose residences are located in the calamity areas declared by the NDRRMC.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. SS and EC pensioners living in the declared calamity areas can apply for the three-month advance pension from July 26, 2024, to August 24, 2024.

  2. SS and EC partial disability pensioners can apply for the advance pension for the remaining months of their partial disability pension, not exceeding three months.

  3. Pensioners who have previously availed of advance pensions for other calamities and whose pensions are still suspended can apply for this advance pension, provided it does not exceed three months.

  4. SS retiree pensioners with no existing loan under the Pension Loan Program (PLP) are also eligible.

Documentary Requirements Applicants must submit a properly accomplished Application for Assistance Due to Calamity/Disaster, certified by the Barangay Chairman. If Part II of the form is not completed, a certification from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) or NDRRMC is required.

Filing of Application The File Anywhere policy allows pensioners to submit their applications at any SSS branch.

Release of Benefit Through Check Benefit checks will be sent to the SSS branch where the application was filed. Personal release of checks is allowed within ten working days from receipt of required documents, or the check will be mailed to the pensioner's address.

Resumption of Monthly Pension The monthly pension will automatically resume after the three-month period.

Forms The Application for Assistance Due to Calamity/Disaster form should be used for this program.

Conclusion By understanding the eligibility criteria, documentary requirements, and application process, SS and EC pensioners can effectively utilize the three-month advance pension program to alleviate financial stress during these challenging times.

This guide ensures that pensioners are well-informed and prepared to take advantage of the support offered by the SSS in the aftermath of natural disasters.
