Major Boost in PhilHealth Benefits for Stroke and Pneumonia Patients

Staying healthy is a priority, but the cost of unexpected critical illness can be a heavy burden. Recognizing this, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has significantly increased its benefit packages for high-risk pneumonia and stroke, ensuring members receive more substantial financial support when they need it most. Under the promise, 'Sa PhilHealth, Damang-dama ang Benepisyo!', these enhanced coverages aim to alleviate the financial strain of hospitalization and treatment.

This vital update provides members with greater peace of mind, knowing that their contributions are working to provide comprehensive healthcare assistance. Let's explore the details of these new and improved benefits.

Expanded Coverage for Critical Conditions

PhilHealth has implemented a considerable increase in coverage for three life-threatening conditions. This adjustment reflects the rising costs of medical care and reinforces PhilHealth's commitment to its members.

  • High-Risk Pneumonia: The benefit package has been raised to ₱90,100. This is a significant increase from the previous coverage of ₱32,000, offering more comprehensive support for patients battling this severe respiratory infection.

  • Hemorrhagic Stroke: Members diagnosed with hemorrhagic stroke are now entitled to a benefit of ₱80,000. This is more than double the old coverage of ₱38,000.

  • Ischemic Stroke: For ischemic stroke, the coverage is now ₱76,000, a substantial leap from the former ₱28,000 benefit.

These enhanced benefits are designed to cover a larger portion of hospital bills, including expenses for accommodation, medical procedures, and professional fees.

How to Avail of These Benefits

To ensure you can claim these benefits without any hassle, PhilHealth members should:

  1. Ensure Active Membership: Your PhilHealth contributions must be up-to-date. It is crucial to check your membership status regularly.

  2. Seek Treatment at Accredited Facilities: Benefits can only be availed at hospitals and healthcare facilities accredited by PhilHealth.

  3. Submit Required Documents: Upon admission, inform the hospital that you are a PhilHealth member. The hospital's billing section will typically process the claim on your behalf. You will need to provide your PhilHealth ID and a completed Claim Form 1 (CF1).
